georgia peach

I placed a small order with Peak when they were having a sale last week.  I wanted to go crazy and order a whole bunch of fragrances, but had to stick to my budget!  The first one I used was Georgia Peach.  I've been on the lookout for a peach fragrance and thought I'd give this one a try, even though I couldn't find any reviews on it for cold process.

It soaped just fine...no acceleration or discoloration.  I did an ITP swirl with orange mica and an uncolored portion, thinking it would turn yellowish in color because of the unrefined cocoa butter and sunflower oil in there, but it turned out white instead.

The bad news is that the scent faded (I used .8oz ppo).  I can barely smell it at all...what a bummer, because it smelled so good out of the bottle! I have a couple more fruity and melon fragrances to try, too...hope they don't fade!

It's been awhile since I ordered from Peak, but noticed the labels are new and so is the packaging.  I kept the fragrances in the foam thingy because it fits nicely in my cabinet and keeps the bottles from falling over!

Oh, and here's something I'll pass along as I didn't know you could do this:  when you order from Peak, they give you a free fragrance sample with your order.  When you check out, you can request a certain fragrance sample of your choice...found this out the last time I placed an order and had to ask them a question.  I didn't see a specific area at checkout on where to request it, but once I placed my order, I emailed them my request and they got back to me quickly saying they would make sure my request got put on the order...and it did!

  1. Your soap looks very pretty. Thank you for the review on Georgia peach and the tip on the sample. I also ordered a few f.o.'s from them for the first time, including Georgia peach. Looking forward to your reviews on the other scents you got. I hope too they don't fade!

    1. Thanks SoapJam! I would go .9-1oz. ppo with the Georgia Peach and see if that's any better. I hope my other ones don't fade either! :)

    1. Thanks so much Maja! It's so disappointing when a fragrance fades...especially when it's one that smells soooo good out of the bottle! The fragrance holder is pretty nifty...I've been using a plastic storage container for my fragrances, and they are always falling over.

  3. Gorgeous, love those swirls, it looks like you're really enjoying your new slab mold! You might find that the peach comes back, sometimes fragrances do that :( I love the way they package their fragrances! Can't wait to hear about the other fragrances!

    1. Thanks Christine! Yep, I really like my slab mold...I have a two-color swirl soap planned and will be using the mold again, lol. I sure hope the scent comes back too, but I've never had it happen...in my experience, once the scent fades, it's gone for good. :(

  4. Those look very beautiful, so feminine and girly! I hope too that the scent comes back later. Do you know if Peak delivers to other countries?

    1. Thanks Signe! I hope the scent comes back too..if it does, I will be sure to report back! I think at one time Peak did ship international, but not anymore. I pulled this piece of info from their website:

"As of 01/2008 we will no longer be shipping any orders outside of the Continental United States, except to APO & FPO addresses and established international customers. Please email us for more info on shipping to APO & FPO addresses, as our website cannot accurately calculate these shipping charges."

    2. Here in Finland we don't have many companies where to buy any soapmaking stuff, so I am always looking for new places to order some. But thank you, now I know that Peak is not one of those new shopping places for me...:)

    3. Signe, have you looked at any of these companies? They all say they ship international, so might be worth checking to see if they ship to Finland:
      Bramble Berry
      Natures Garden
      Aroma Haven/Rustic Escentuals
      Wholesale Supplies Plus

  5. Beautiful peachy soap! But it doesn´t look at all like the ITP swirls I have made. You got a more delicate and bigger swirl. Was the soap at really light trace?

    1. Thanks Kirppu! Yes, the soap was at a light trace..when I poured it into the mold, it was very fluid. I've also been using more of the swirl color...before, I would use a small amount and my swirls were very delicate. Using a larger amount, my swirls are much bigger now. I've been using sunflower oil too and it's taking longer to get to trace...I think it's really helped with my swirling!

  6. Beautiful soap Kalla! I love the scent of peaches but have never tried to soap it. I order from Peak all the time for my candles but have never tried their scents in my soap because they don't give any info on how the fragrances react in the soaps...if it accelerates or discolors for instance. Do you just use the FO and hope for the best?

    1. Thanks Gloria! I know...and a lot of the reviews from customers are on candles...not very many on how the FOs soaped. I just went through their Bath & Body fragrances to see which ones I've used...looks like I soaped 22 of them so far! If there are any you're wondering about, just let me know and if I've used them before, I'll let you know how they soaped. :)

  7. Such a pretty soap, Kalla! The colors and swirls are gorgeous. Sorry to hear that the FO faded, though - that's always a bummer. Have fun with your other FOs! I know how difficult it can be to resist buying a ton of scents!

    1. Thanks Natalia! You know what...I think your blog was one that disappeared from my blog list when my blog went crazy. Do you have a Wordpress blog? I know I was following a couple of them and they don't show up anymore :/
