ginger orange

I used my new slab mold again to make this swirled soap.  I wanted to match the fragrance with the colors, using orange mica for the main color and cappuccino mica for the swirl color.  I could have used a little more of the cappuccino mica to make the brown a tad darker. The bars look pinkish in the photo too, but they're more of a light orange. Put it this way, I took a lot of photos and this was the best one!

I also made this batch a little bit bigger to compare the size of the bars.  I used 28 ounces of oils the first time I used my slab mold (Eucalyptus Spearmint) and 30 ounces this time.  I think I like the size of the first ones better, so will go back to using 28 ounces of oils.

I can't really comment on the scent yet, as it seems to change.  Out of the bottle, it was "different" and not what I expected...but right now, it seems mild and sweet.  I'm wondering how much more the scent will change when done curing.

  1. I like these subtle swirls and I don't think you needed more of brown, the soap looks so delicate and neat the way it is. Excellent soap,Kalla and the photo, too.

    1. Thanks so much!! It did turn out delicate-looking, didn't it? I was hoping to get just a little more contrast in the colors, but that's ok...I'm still happy with the way they turned out. Swirling has been much easier for me to do in the slab mold.

  2. I love them too, I thought the color came from rose clay :)

    1. Thanks Natalia! It does look like I used rose clay...whenever I use orange mica, the bars always look pink in photos. Hmm. :)

    1. Thanks Cee! I can't believe the difference in my swirling..I seemed to struggle more using a loaf mold...it's a breeze with the slab mold! :)

    1. Thanks Jenny! Is your combination strong? I wonder if I should have used more ginger (I did equal parts)...I can smell it in there, but it's subtle.
