a new year

It's been almost two months since I made any soap...ran out of supplies and figured I'd just wait until the holidays were over before I put in any orders.  Since I've been on a soaping break, I've had time to think about what I want to do (mostly scents), plus I received feedback from family members over the holidays, so I'm taking that into consideration too.
What surprised me the most was how popular the Lavender OMH was.  It went the quickest!  Looks like I'll have to make another batch of it.
The only "complaint" I got was to not put whole oats on top of the soap anymore.  No biggie, because although I love the wholesome look whole oats give, I had to agree.  In fact, I've been scraping the oats off first with my fingers (or knife) before putting a bar in the shower.  When oats get wet, the consistency is kind of gross...boogers come to mind, lol.  No complaints on ground up oatmeal (or herbs) being in the soap though...so that's good!

Other than that, nothing but compliments.  "Let us know when you'll have more soap" is what I heard a couple of times over the holidays...even got a text from my aunt wanting more.  I am slowly converting my family/relatives to handmade soap, lol.  I'm so glad they notice (or feel more like) a big difference using handmade!!
This year I plan to keep things simple and have fun.  I'm waiting for all of my packages to arrive...can't wait to get back to soaping!

Annie and I wish you all a Happy New Year!

  1. Aw, what a cute little puppy you have there! It's so nice to get that honest feedback from family and friends, it really does help you focus on what direction to go with your soaps! That's so great that everyone has appreciated and enjoyed your homemade soap, it's sure hard to go back to store-bought soap after using handmade! Have fun with your new soapy supplies!

    1. Thanks Cee Gee! She just turned five years last month. It feels great to get that positive feedback. It's nice to know they appreciate something made by me and also that they are enjoying and feeling the benefits of homemade soap!

  2. Annie looks like a sweetie! I'm glad that your family members are enjoying your soaps. I hope mine are enjoying my soaps, too, because that's what I gave everyone for Christmas, lol. You must be looking forward to getting your new supplies and getting back into soaping. I haven't made any soap since Halloween, and I'm hoping to make some this weekend. Happy New Year!

    1. She sure is a sweetie, lol...very cuddly. Oh, I'm sure your family is enjoying your soaps...from what I've seen, your soaps are beautiful! I too, give soap for Christmas..although my family didn't get as much this time. That's ok though, because I will be making more of their favorites soon...so yeah, looking forward to getting my supplies. Sounds like you've had a bit of a break too from soaping...can't wait to see what you come up with!
