An item I cannot live without is lip balm...gotta have it handy at all times! I usually have a handful of lip balms around the house but all of them were close to being used up, so I made some more today. I had my recipe that I was going to use, but once I started getting supplies ready, I changed it up...always happens!
I went "butter-free" this time..no cocoa or shea butter like I normally use. All of my lip balms (except for one) have gone bumpy from the butters, so I decided to just leave them out. I know I can temper the butters or purchase special ingredients that keep them smooth, but I don't want to put in the extra effort, lol. I was going to use the calendula-infused olive oil too, but then remembered the smell of it..it's not bad, just don't want it to come through in a lip balm.
For my recipe I used jojoba oil, beeswax, candelilla wax and coconut oil...no flavor oils or sweeteners because I like my lip balms plain. I use beeswax pellets, but wanted to try this block of beeswax that I purchased awhile ago (from Owl Naturals)...only needed a small amount so I just used a cheese grater and shredded it.
The glide and sheen is very nice right now...will see how much more it firms up in a few days.
