bergamot grapefruit orange

I started this post at least three times..then deleted it, lol.  I'm just not much of a writer, which is why my posts tend to be short and sweet.  I also haven't mentioned this before, but we're going to be moving again so I shouldn't be making soap at all...but that's easier said than done.

I had the itch to make a high coconut oil batch...let's hope it doesn't make me itch!  This was made with coconut oil, olive oil, rice bran oil and shea butter..and a high superfat.  The bars are a little on the soft side, even after a week, so I hope they get harder.

Crafting and soaping supplies have been packed and shoved into a corner.  I found a little spot to tuck the bars away to cure.  No one (potential buyers) will notice them, will they?  ;)

  2. Gorgeous soap, Kalla! Love the flecks in the bars - is that dried orange peel? I'm curious to see how you like the high coconut oil content. I've been wanting to try a 100% coconut oil soap with a 20% superfat, or maybe a salt bar with high coconut.

And good luck with the move! I know what you mean. Last year we were in the process of moving right when it was time to make Christmas soaps. (My family and friends know that they're getting soap as gifts from me, lol.) Even though I had a million things to do, I kept soaping and had to keep four batches curing as best as I could through the move. I hope you get settled soon so you can soap more!

    1. Thanks Jenny! The flecks are finely ground calendula petals. I have ground orange peel, but don't use it very often. I find it still too scratchy, even when finely ground...if I do use it, I sprinkle it on top. I haven't tried a 100% coconut oil soap yet...that's on my to-do list!

Moving stinks, lol. I agree..it takes a little more effort to care for the curing batches during a move-I hope I won't have a lot. I hope to get settled soon too-just have to take it one day at a time. Thanks! :)

    1. thank you, dakota! they do smell great and feel nice on the skin, but are still a little too soft for my liking. I noticed they aren't lasting as long, too....I have tweaked the recipe a bit and it's much better! :)
