ITP swirling...ugh!

I'm about ready to give up on in-the-pot swirling...it just never turns out the way I want it to.  I made a batch of Apple Blossom soap and used rose clay for the swirl.  Maybe I shouldn't have used clay for swirling? I don't know...it seemed to incorporate nicely when I was pouring.  It was after I cut into the loaf  the next day that I noticed ridges and variations of the pink color.  Here are a couple of pics..it's just not pretty, lol.

The glitter was an afterthought...I messed around with the tops too long and it became one solid color.  Aside from appearances, it smells so good!  Since Apple Blossom is a family favorite,  I'll keep reordering it when needed....but I think next time I'll just make a plain, pink soap. Ha!

  1. I think it's pretty and subtle, I would be very happy to receive a bar like that, too hard on yourself :)

    1. Thanks Joanna! yes, I was trying for a soft pink swirl. Maybe I am a little hard on myself, lol...I'm just not thrilled with my swirling technique! :)

  2. I think the swirls in your Apple Blossom soap are gorgeous! When I saw the photo in my Dashboard, I thought, "Oh, what a pretty soap!" And then I was confused when I read the title of the post, lol. I really do like it. And the texture on the tops is beautiful - love the glitter.

    1. Aw, you're too kind, Jenny! For some reason, the middle of the bars to the bottom remind me of bacon, lol. I think next time I'll cut back on the amount of swirl color..I think I used too much! :)

  3. I love your swirls! Were you aiming for something with finer swirls perhaps? If so, pour at a lighter trace. I would be perfectly happy with this soap if I had made it xxx

    1. thanks Amber! I'm so glad this batch is gone, completely used up. In person, it really did look diseased, lol. Next time I make this, if I do a swirl, I'll use mica instead of clay..or just go all one color with clay. Won't be doing it this way again, that's for sure!
